Is Adobe Software Installed on Your Computer?

Adobe has made a variety of programs over the years, and often you'll find that it is necessary to have it installed in order to view a movie or online document or even a website that uses Flash. Many ebooks or other documents that you download will also require you to use Adobe Reader to read them.

While you will be prompted to download and install the appropriate software wherever you need it, there's really no point in downloading it twice. It's possible that it is already on your computer and you simply don't know it. If there are no obvious icons, that doesn't mean that you don't have Adobe software on your computer.

How to Check for Adobe
To find out if you have a version of Adobe, look under your programs tab in the Start menu. There you'll be able to see if there is anything installed from the company. Even if there isn't an icon on your desktop, you will still see the program listed here if it has been actually installed. However, it's also possible to have the file on your computer, without it having been installed. In this case, you don't need to download the program again, but you will need to make sure you get it up and running before you can access the site or document that you need. Take a look at which programs are already on your computer. You may not need them all and can free up some space by removing those files that aren't necessary.

The easiest way to find out if you do have the required software files available on your computer is to simply do a search. Check all your files for "Adobe" and you'll quickly find out if you have the right software downloaded. Your search function will show you where the files are hiding if you are unable to find them manually. Now all you need to do is install the program.

Installing the Software
To install, look for a file in the search results that has .exe at the end of it. It will usually have the Adobe symbol beside it as well, which is a red square with a white A. Double click on this icon and it will take you through all the steps necessary to install the program. You'll need to do this for each program that you need.

Most people find that they need to have Adobe Reader and Flash Player at the least. These are both free programs that you can get online, so if they aren't already on your hard drive, you can easily get them without any extra costs.

Whether you love Adobe or not, the fact is that it's now necessary to view many things online and if you want to get the full use of your internet, you'll find that you do need to be able to read PDF documents and watch videos that require the installation of the Flash Player. Don't start randomly downloading things, though, since chances are it's already on your computer, you just need to find it!
