Damaged Excel File Repairing is Possible.

Microsoft Excel is the most commonly used spreadsheet application among home users and financial experts. The file you create in MS Excel is saved in .xls or .xlsx format depending on the MS Excel version using which the file is created. If you create the file in Excel versions up to Excel 2003 then the file will be saved in .xls format. And if the file is created in Excel 2007 then the file extension will be .xlsx. However, the file can be corrupted anytime due to abrupt system shutdown. Sometimes, due to sudden system shutdown, header structure of the file gets damaged leading in MS Excel to display an error message. The error message indicates the file corruption due to which MS Excel cannot open the file. It may happen that the file contains lots of valuable data that you can never think to loss and losing that data means a big loss. But, you don't need to worry because in this article you will know a simple process to recover data from the damaged Excel file. Execute the following steps to repair the damaged Excel file: 1. Navigate to the folder where the damaged Excel file is available. The damaged file can be identified by its name as the name of damaged Excel file gets changed to some alphabetical name like BD45SD, DB2548O, etc. 2. Right-click the damaged file and select the Rename option. 3. Rename the file with a desired name following by .xls extension or with .xlsx extension. If the file was created using Excel version lower than Excel 2007 then rename the file with .xls extension else rename the file with .xlsx extension. The file appears in Excel format. Now, you can open the file to continue your work. This is how you can recover data from Excel file, which has been damaged due to sudden power outage or abrupt system shutdown.
